Where has the time gone? It feels just like yesterday I was getting ashes smeared on my forehead... and now Holy Week? Holy Week is a great time to grow closer to Jesus and Mary, I have whipped up a few things that YOU should try to add in this Holy Week!
DAILY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Okay.. I know your parish does not have 24 hour Perpetual Adoration... or does it? In many cases it does not, go to Adoration the day your Church has the Adoration Chapel open, as well as go to Maundy Thursday Adoration until midnight. But besides going to those two Adoration's go DAILY! There are many live camera's that have the Blessed Sacrament exposed, I have a favorite one.. click HERE to view the chapel, don't forget to genuflect.
Daily Precious Blood Chaplet
It's all about JESUS, and His Holy Wounds! Now, this may be something that you have never heard of before, but I must tell you it is BEAUTIFUL! I have prayed this chaplet almost every day of Lent, and I can not begin to tell you how the Precious Blood devotion has changed my life this Lenten Season. The chaplet takes less than 30 minutes to pray, and is great to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament (hint..hint.. ^). If you want to pray this amazing chaplet, and want to ponder on the wounds of Christ, click HERE and turn to page 32 in the PDF book, I know you will love it!
Face it, you like to use the excuse that you are to "busy" not to pray and spend time with our Lord, it is something we all do at times. However we cannot continue to throw in excuses, our relationship with Christ and the Church is the most important thing in our lives; not work or school, though they are both important they have nothing to do with our eternal life that we should all be working towards. Our eternal life will be forever, not whatever the world is involved in during this current moment.
It may not be as hard as you think, your thinking about an hour a day with the Lord; however I am talking FIVE to TEN minutes just to say "hello" to our Lord, and his Mother Mary! Perhaps you have a little more spare time on a day or two you can pray the rosary or chaplet. It is not as complicated as you think it is!
We are beginning to end our Lenten Season, what not a better way to enter into Easter with a true compassionate relationship with the man who took all of your sin to Calvary and then died on a cross.
Two weeks before Easter, I am seeing Protestants posting about how "Epic" the Easter service is going to be. However, they have not prepared for Easter, nor will they receive what YOU receive on Easter! The past two months, we as Catholics have spent time suffering with giving something up, being tempted more by Satan, and growing closer to our Lord by Lenten Nourishment. Giving something up for Lent prepares us for Easter so that we can rejoice that the Lord has Risen! When it comes to Easter, we have prepared for almost 50 days through sacrifice and overcoming temptation.
When is comes, you will receive Jesus, Body - Blood, Soul and Divinity, you will receive eternal graces, and you will be rejoicing more than ever. Remember, you still have to live your Lenten Penance, and sacrifice growing closer with Christ, and His Blessed Mother, Mary. We will rejoice!
Saint Gennaro, patron of Naples blood relic liquefied in Naples when Pope Francis held it and embraced it on a trip on Saturday. The last time this miracle occurred was 1848, in front of Pope Pius IX.
The Archbishop of Naples said "His blood is half liquefied" and then said "it is a sign that St. Gennaro loves the pope"
Pope Francis quickly responded by saying "The archbishop said the blood was half liquefied. It means the saint loves us halfway. We all have to convert a little more so that he loves us more."
WOW! A miracle? Be prepared the next few weeks as thousands begin to share, post, and tweet about this great occurrence. This is something so great in our lifetime. However, just like His Holiness said "that saint loves us halfway." We all need to pray more and more, spend time with the Lord more, use the intercession of the saints to pray, and believe in God's wondrous Mercy! We need all of the saints to love us fully, the only way possible is by the things above, we truly have to believe and understand the Eucharist, and thirst for it. Don't make it a hard thing, make it a easy thing! We will slowly begin to convert ourselves fully to the Church, and the saints will love us fully!
It is time! Not only do the elderly people pray the Rosary, people your age do too! When I first began my conversion to the Church back in 2012 the first prayer I ever learned was the Rosary, and today I try to pray it everyday, not because I want to be called a rosary rattler, but because I want the graces that you receive by praying the Rosary and YOU should too! I am sure you have felt like your just not living your life how God would want you to, or that you have has a rough week and you feel like you let God down; that's when the Rosary comes in. Our Lady promises that whom ever prays the Rosary that they shall receive signal graces, which are unique graces to help sanctify us in our state of life. Our Lady also promises that she will specially protect those who pray the Rosary, she is an advocate channel of God's Grace, she is saying that she will personally watch over those who pray the Rosary. She also says that she will obtain for you all the you ask of her by praying the Rosary, God will always grant you the graces that will benefit your soul. You see these are just a few of the things Our Lady promises us when we pray the Rosary, and how it can help us everyday. In the Church it seems that so many people "push" on the Rosary, you just find time for YOU, you fill the prescription from God, not anyone else. Perhaps you make it a goal to pray the Rosary daily or weekly. Personally I try to pray the Rosary every night before bed, but we both know that we can just be so tired out that it is not possible. If you find trouble in wanting to pray the Rosary, try buying yourself a new attractive Rosary that you just want to use and pray with always (trust me it works!)
We as Catholics need to pick up the Rosary once again, just not for ourselves but for the World. Our Lady promised us that she would obtain peace for the world when she gets an army praying the Rosary! So, you know the world we live in, we need it!
Hundreds gathered in New York City on Tuesday, for the Saint Patrick's Day parade, honoring the patron saint of Ireland. For months we the Church knew that LGBT and gay activist groups were trying and accepted into marching in the parade with their Pro-Gay banners, which they would not only march by St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, but they would be led by the Archbishop himself, Timothy Cardinal Dolan. What did we do? We just thought that someone would take care of it, only worrying about it in the beginning. Well folks, NO ONE (except a few faithful) actually did a thing to try to stop this scandal that would be put upon on each and every Catholic. And now, that the LGBT were marching in Tuesday's parade, we all freak out and post about how terrible and ashamed we are of Cardinal Dolan and the allowance of LGBT banners to be marched with. We all know that Cardinal Dolan was wrong for allowing this, and not stopping the attack on the Church and her teachings. But we did nothing, we thought well "someone will do it" and that someONE was Michael Voris (yes, some other faithful Catholics did continue to fight) who for roughly the past year has made Vortex shows and other video's on this terrible act.
Tuesday, Michael was able to ask Cardinal Dolan a question before the parade in which he asked "What would you say to loyal Catholics who find what your doing here a great scandal to the faith?" In which Dolan replied "No, come on in we would love to have you." Michael tried to get Dolan's attention after he began to walk away by saying "that's not really an answer your Eminence." Before Michael could say anything else a guard elbowed him and told him his press pass was not allowed and removed from the scene.
And so, it goes with being said next year, expect many more gay groups marching in this parade. Saint Patrick's day, an honor of Patrick who while he was in Ireland fought greatly against the cultures homosexuality which has developed within in it. So ironic, that a man who we honor because of his life's work is not being "celebrated" by being walked right over. You see what happened this year? Peoples view of the Church will change, and we find out that the Church of nice, isn't so nice. You need to act and pray that some Mercy will be delivered by our Lord (we cannot have another 2015).
Pray for Cardinal Dolan - that he may realize the wrong he has done
The entire world was stunned two years ago when Pope Benedict XVI announced that he would retire, being the first pope to do so in 1000 years. Pope Gregory XII was forced to do so to end the Western Schism, Pope Martin V was his successor in 1415. Holy Father, Pope Francis has made it clear that he expects that his pontificate will be short, saying "5-6" or last year saying "2-3" years. Pope Francis just celebrated his two year anniversary of being elected. Did Pope Benedict XVI start a trend? Now, this would be fine if every pope who wanted to do this be sheltered like Benedict has been. However, Francis recently commented "I just want to go get a pizza." We know that he would be a social retired pope, and this would cause something, well not so well. Why? you might ask - you may remember from above the Papal Schism or Western Schism? There were several men who claimed to be the pope, and that is why Gregory was forced to retire. However, I don't think there will be another schism with a million of popes, however if a pope that has retired is still getting out and about and cause a little conflict with the succeeded pope and his values and rules he is enforcing or setting. Now think about this every 5 years a pope retires and a new one is elected, and perhaps two, perhaps three popes retired and one on the Peters chair. I am just saying, it may be like Mrs. Clause wanting to make Santa. Pray for our popes, and the popes to come that they will make the right decision in the papacy, and they will stick to traditionally staying pontiff until death unless sever illness, like Father Benedict.
Pope Benedict, I am praying for you.
Habemus Papam! On March 13, 2013, Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio from Argentina was elected as the pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. His simple style, of being humble and being Francis has made him favored by many. He was the first to wash and kiss the feet of criminals, he talks about social justice, and he he shocked the world when he said "Who am I to judge?" while in a flight back to Rome. Pope Francis has gained many followers, Catholic and not catholic. Many of the youth cling to his style of humility, and use of resources. Many of us caught our real first glimpse of Francis at World Youth Day in Rio de janiero in 2014 where he said "The Church needs you." With literally billions of people looking at him, he asks for no praise, just constant prayer. Viva La Papa!
Pope Francis, we are praying for you
Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? The kids just asked to many questions that one day? Waited all day for the meat to thaw, then realized it was Friday? or perhaps the car wouldn't start?
No matter what it may be, from a crazy hair day, to a death in the family Mary is standing there with her arms wide open, saying come, come into my arms. And it is not as hard as you may think to fall into her arms. Simply, pick up your rosary, you don't even have to pray the rosary if you don't feel like it. Pick up the rosary, and feel the beads through your fingers, and your holding the hand of our Blessed Mother, Mary! Before you know it a since of peace, and comfort will fill your body, and you can sometimes really feel like your mother is giving you a comforting hug, and smile. You will love being with the Blessed Mother so much, that even when you don't have a bad day, you will find yourself picking up your rosary and begin praying. And before long, you will be holding Mary's hand so much, you will never want to sin again. You wouldn't want to use the Lords name in vein, shortly after praying the rosary, and having His Blessed Mother so close to you. And right about now your beginning to come to the synopsis that this is another blog about how you need to pray the rosary... ITS NOT! Simply, in its fullness this is to inform you that your life can drastically change in one week just by picking up your rosary. This week begin to pick up your rosary on a daily basis, and remember these words from St. John Paul II “Take Up the Rosary Once Again” -YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE! and if you pray the rosary already on a daily basis, spend 10 minutes of prayer after the rosary, reflection upon your statue or photo of Mary.
May Jesus Bless You, and Mary watch over You!
"Lent is like a long 'retreat' during which we can turn back into ourselves and listen to the voice of God, in order to defeat the temptations of the Evil One. It is a period of spiritual 'combat' which we must experience alongside Jesus, not with pride and presumption, but using the arms of faith: prayer, listening to the word of God and penance. In this way we will be able to celebrate Easter in truth, ready to renew the promises of our Baptism."
-- Pope Benedict XVI
It is never to late to start your Lenten journey, or restart it! Remember our Lord Himself, dropped His cross three times, you too, following the example of Christ, can pick up your cross and carry on! At Easter we will be able to rejoice, with the Church, and with the Lord. God Bless You.
